I am looking to replace my fuel filter seperator with the following BF1222SP or WIX33617 are there any other brands the same? While I am on this the water sensor port does it include the water sensor or must you use the original one off the bottom cap? One more question my original bottom cap has a schrader in it, is this unusal, whats it used for, the drain is right next to it?

Thanks guys

NAPA 3617 is the same. WIX makes NAPA filters, hence the simialr part numbers. The filters do not come with the water sensor and before buying the filter, I would make sure the factory water sensor has the same thread. 3617 has a 7/16" - 20 water sensor port. NAPA 3805 is the same filter but with a 1/2" - 20 water sensor port. NAPA 3417 is the same but has no water sensor port.

Forgot the Schrader valve on the bottom......I have no idea what it is for. Wondered that myself. Seems to me it is a leak waiting to happen.

Iirc, I was told the schrader valves are to be used together, one can tell you pressure in, and the other can tell you pressure out, combine the two and you'll know the restriction of the filter.

When you turn the wheel to open the drain valve, the wheel contacts the schrader (when the wheel is turned all the way up) which opens to let air in to help water and fuel drain.
