Fuel filter lite comes on and off

On my 93 7.3 non-turbo as I drive my filter lite comes on and off. As I accelerate the lite comes on and as I take my foot off the pedal the lite goes off. The filter has less than 200 miles on it. The tanks are new and I am using electric fuel pumps with fresh diesel. each tank has its own filter arrangement and both filters ar new. The truck runs fine and I have tried to jiggle the wire that leads to the filter head with no difference. Doesn't the filter light go on or off based on fuel pressure or the lack of? There has been no wvo or bio put into these tanks. Its probably something simple but it is a pain. There are no air leaks that I can sustain. The eng. starts up cold with less than 2 seconds cranking and the lite goes off instantly. What should one look for/ Thank you.

even though the filters are new do you think they sucked up a bunch of crap or you got bad fuel? maybe double check your pumps are putting out enough pressure because it sounds like when more fuel is needed the pump isnt keeping up. you dont want to run with the fuel filter light on because the IP is pulling all the fuel and its bad for the pump.

unless you do have a bad sensor or wiring but if it goes on and off with the push of the pedal i wouldnt really think so.

when I ran 100% motor oil my truck did this sometimes. You need to check your fuel pressure. I had a mech. pump (have electric now) but when it was chilly outside and the oil was thicker my pump would not keep up with demand. My lite would come on when accelerating and go off when coasting. If you pressure is good try some different filters saying that your wiring is ok for your lite.

I had an issue when I put locking Fuel caps on the truck. The old caps vented, the new ones did not. Loosen the caps then run the truck. If the problem goes away you need to vent the tanks. W/O the tanks venting it causes vacuum to build up and the pump will not get enough fuel.

If all is new like You say then maybe there is something in the lines blocking them, what did You use on the fittings to the fuel pump, do the fuel pump have a screen in it? Do You use any waterblock filter? If the filter is before the pump it could be restrictive or maybe You located the pump too far away from the tanks or the pump isn't rated to the volume the engine needs from it (usually the IDI will do well with very little).

I am with Exekiel69 in that you may some sort of blockage. Mine did similiar things when I had broken pieces of the sending unit that ended up in my Fuel Tank Selector Valve! Not fun since I dealth with that issue for over a year and a half before I isolated it.....
