Fuel filter change.

I'm trying to find out if there is a certain set of steps to take when i change my fuel filter, all i have been able to find is videos on power stroke filter removals. I have a 93 7.3 turbo, do i just screw off the filter and replace or is there more to it?. any help would be great thanks.

Fill the new filter with fuel or Diesel Kleen or something like that. Fill it in the small holes not the large hole in the center.

Yep it's pretty simple just Unscrew the old filter. And fill the new filter with diesel I used trans fluid in mine and ran for 5 Min then let it sit overnight(trans fluid will clean the Ip-Injectors. Screw on the New filter. And like I said if you use trans fluid let it sit overnight. But if you use diesel you don't have to let it sit.

if you have an electrical pump, no need to fill it at all, just turn the key itll do it itself.

I'll second a fresh filter change filled with your favorite injector cleaner at the end of the day and about a 1 minute run on the truck to get the additive into the IP and injectors and let it set overnight.

sounds simple enough, any good diesel injector cleaner any one recommends.

Diesel Kleen is a good one as said. But I use Transfluid I always have some so it's easiest for me.

Also I run it in the fuel tank.

Its a simple as making a free throw... As posted use what you can find. Cheapest is trans fluid. Now the reason you pour ANY fluid into the ring of smaller holes in the filter is the fluid is being filtered thru the media that way. You never know whats in the stuff you are adding to a filter even from a clean can of anything. Just the fiol cap can become a pump killer if it get into the pumps.

I like to change mine when the engine is warm, just run. It makes the restart pretty simple. It will run a bit rough at first as some air will be in the system. Put a rag under the filter to catch the spilled diesel. My experience is with a mechanical fuel pump. If you have an electric fuel pump it may be easier.
