I thought a wheel cylinder had gone on me, but found out different when I pulled the brake drum. The parking brake lever was touching the hub/seal, where the groove is now. I'm wondering if it didn't make the groove. I pulled the axle shaft and hub, but the seal remained on the rear of the spindle. I have never taken one of these apart before and want to see if this looks right, or not. Here are a few pics...

This is the seal, oil side up:

This one is the seal, sitting on the hub.

The inboard end of the hub:

Do I need a new hub, or maybe just a new seal?

it appears that you need a hub.looks like the park brake arm cut off the portion the seal sits in.you didnt hear that making any noise?

I never heard a thing! I just found gear oil on the driveway, a couple days ago. I first thought it was a leaking wheel cylinder..

Yep... It sounds like the IPR in this one is on the outs.. I got a new seal kit and plan to try cleaning it myself..

it was weird, it was sticking open and not allowing enough oil pressure to start. only when cold... it would start on ether and as soon as the oil warmed up, i could start it up all day long. we put a scanner on it when we got home which confirmed it. :dunno

Mine's giving me a fit at almost every startup. The engine lopes pretty bad and then clears up a bit. Then it's on, to the rough idle.....
