Flatbed my ford? scrap original bed in ok shape? or not

my 85 is in beautiful shape except for the rust on the bed its shot...but i dont really wanna have to buy patching and replace panels and im afraid my bed rails are gonna split in the future... well i planned on getting a flat bed for it because i think it could pull it off and i like the extra room to lay whatever in it without worryin about bustin my rear window out or not havin room to haul both my dirt bikes. and helpful haulin a fifth wheel. i wondered if anyone is interested in my bed and tailgate. or what its worth or should i just scrap it? the paint is flawless it sparkles its just rusted out on the fender wells and bottom of tailgate. the trim is all there but i dont know what to do. whats your guys opinion? scrap or sell anyone interested if i sell??

Post some good pictures of the rust damage to the bed and you'll get more/better opinions

These older boxes are getting harder and harder to find. Even with rust, you could cut it out and replace those areas with new metal (LMC, NPD, and others have the panels).

well my intentions were to do that through lmc panels were only like 20 bucks a side. but i just would rather have the flat bed because i have another 85 ford thats rust free. but ill take some pics and post them definatly so everyone can see.

Shoot thats not that bad. My buddies 03 psd has more rust than that.

Judging by the pictures, that bed aint even that rusty at all! Ok but seriously I know that it is, but I've had 'em way more rusted out than that. It's definitley still fixable and it's not that expensive to do. Now on the other hand, I LOVE flatbeds, nothing better than throwing whatever you want up there without having to worry about scratching the paint or denting it. Ya get to treat your truck like a truck. At the moment I'm trying to see if I can find an aluminum hillsboro....

By the looks of it your supercab corners are rotten too.

Around here (the north east) that bed is scrap except to the perfect person who has no bed to start with. I needed a bed for my 80(long story) but i didnt have one. i went and bought one that looked just like yours for 100. A week later i found 2 NOS sides on craigs list for 200

The wheelwells aren't that bad, easy enough to fix, but, how are the sills underneath? Thats what will tell the tale as to wether it's worth saving or not. I'd lean towards them being toast.

i scrapped a 8 foot dodge ram box a few weeks ago, i got $38 for it.
