Finally got the pictures of the engine work I did on my wife's truck. Unfortunately all the before pictures are on film and my scanner took a dump. These are off my buddie's digital taken over the course of several weeks.

Just a little tip. The next time you plan on spending more than 15 mins under the hood. Build yourself a scaffold around the engine bay, with concrete blocks and 2X10's. The blocks are 8" tall and get you up to a comfortable working level. 3-5' 2x10's will able you to walk all the way around the truck.

I have two bench grinders. One with grinding wheels on it and the other with a soft wire wheel on one side and a buffing wheel on the other. I spent about two hours total with the alternator on the wire wheel (that SOB gets heavy). I wanted to polish it, but that cast aluminum doesn't lend itself very well to polishing. Fortunately we don't have much humdity her in NM so corrosion is not much of an issue.

The part that was a ***** was the AC steel lines. I got some stuff from a muscle car show last month called Wenol(sp?). That stuff is amazing. Polished the radiator cap with it and it looks like it was chromed. Kind of expensive though at $12 for a toothpast sized tube. It's not meant for plated metals, but I use it on about everything now. Did the alloy wheels on that truck and what a difference!

Aint that the truth. I try keeping all my engines fairly clean just so they're easier to work on. I have yet to tackle my daughter's new truck. Thing runs like a top, but the engine bay looks like a rats nest. :puke:

Looks Good Tom! You still gonna come by the shop to look at the seats in my truck?? My perfect bench seat may be for sale here pretty quick, If I can find a good set of buckets.
