Final Charge coolant/antifreeze

I saw some of this at Walmart today. Its an extended life coolant formulated for heavy duty trucks. The website makes it sound very good-- no silicates, no other nasty stuff, and no need for SCA's. They were selling it for $10 for, I believe, a 5 quart jug.

Has anybody used this stuff? Any experience?

I just checked out the website and it looks pretty good. I would be curious to hear from some real people that have used it.

There has been some concern that the older seals are incompatible with an ELC. Basically your water pump might start leaking eventually.

I've used ELC's and personally believe it is the way to go. They DO still use SCA's, but because of the overall composition of the coolant they last a LOT longer. They do recommend adding an SCA booster after X years or ***,K miles, it is quite a while and most of us would never need to do it.

Well I have another question. I just put on a new water pump so being new would it be able to withstand the ELC's? Seems like a much easier choice to use a coolant with SCA's already in it.

I will be watching for more info if there is any more comments. I am due for a coolent change out Maybe even overdue. If the "O" ring in the water pump is the only issue I think I will brave it. If the pump goes out it goes out.

If I were a betting man I'd say a new pump would be compatible. It comes down to the fact that the seal manufacturers would have a standardized composition for each type of seal.

No guts, no glory. Water pump seals fail eventually anyway.

My oringinal made it 356,000 so someone did something right.
