F & R fuel tank indicator light or LED

Well was rolling down highway ...dark...my dash lights usually are set very low intensity.

I was curious what tank I was on and had to FEEL switch to determine which it was on.

Then came an epiphany...what about a couple of small indicator bulbs or LEDs that could be tied into the tank switch just above or near the switch maybe to the side...one up one down...location to be determined.

I was considering a dual colour LED fed from switch for simplicity.

Anyone have any thoughts or input ...pros cons...etc...

Lets see what we can come up with collaboratively.

Yes; it would be very easy. I have a green LED that lights up when I am running on Veg oil (others to indicate when I am purging-red, and status of fuel heaters-yellow). I got the lights at O'reilly's, they where around 9 bucks each. I drilled 5/8"? holes in the back of the cubby hole, just to the right and below the steering wheel. They are back there a ways (3" or so) so they're not obnoxious, in fact you don't really notice them unless your looking.

Dunna mind guage in dash...just was thinking an indicator light or two was all...suppoze if one wanted to could use a digital guage...however I have no idea what you mean or how it would indicate front or rear tank...

Here is a photo of the wiring diagram of a 92 model. I assume many other years are similar.

Seems like you might be able to tap into the reversing positive powering the motor(on the left side of the diagram).

Someone else smarter than me might have to figure out what size resistors and/or diodes needed to properly keep voltage from feeding into the wrong areas.

I would use some small LED lights that are not very bright, just so they don't become annoying.
