OK i know it must hold 1500lbs or more, but does anybody know where to rent one??

I saw one for sale at PepBoys last week. The sign said it would 1,500lbs. Can't remember the price though.

i called two of the local guys and both were rented? one was a 1000lbs and the other was 1500? there is one other place i can call monday? no rentals unlimited here!

The Advanced around these parts doesn't rent anything nor do they have anyone that knows anything about diesels. I was in my nearby Advance with a friend last week. While he was getting some disc pads for his car I thought I'd ask about getting my altenator tested. The guy behind the counter said they can't test altenators from diesel trucks. So I ask him if he could look up the price for a 165amp altenator? His answer was "nobody makes an altenator that big, you have to run two batteries and two altenators for that kind of power." Needless to say, I decided not to press the issue. I'm sure there are some great guys working for Advance, but none are employed around here.

Your best deal is buy a stand that will handle 2000 lbs. I have one with 4 wheels on it and its really loaded when my motor is on it. P.S. None of these motor stands will bolt up very well. I made up some differant "arms" so I can better bolt up my motor in a better balanced line.

I built one a few years ago that I have hung CATS and Detroits on fairly easy. If you have any welding skill or know someone that does that may be the option for you. I spent like 50 bucks on steel and bought some heavy duty casters @ Northern and I have like 150 bucks in this thing. You can build customs arms and such to mount about whatever you want on one like that.

If you're going to rent one for any length of time more than a day or 2 it may be cheaper to buy a 2000 lb 4 wheel stand from Harbor freight, Northern tool or the like for $100 - $150. This might be something you want to look into before renting. You could always list it on craigslist or ebay and sell it when you are done and get a good portion if not all of your money back if you don't want to keep it.

The dry weight is just less than 1000Lbs but they are very bulky engines unlike a small compact 350.A lot of weight stretched out there in mid air.Gotta remember with Engine stands is ain't straight down weight.It is leverage weight.The engine is pulling on the stand trying to twist it forward and down.Take a cinderblock and hold it by your side.Now take it and try to hold it straight out.Also,all these cheap Chinese stands won't hold what they are rated for.I have a 1250 stand and it nearly folded over with a 7.3L and I didn't have all the weight off the cherry picker.....needless to say,I stopped the picker and removed the engine from that stand.

well a buddy of mine can get me one from USMC? he said new in box. he is going to check to make sure it is 2000lbs? i think this might work?

one of the fleet shops I moonlight at has one of those stands. It'll hold the wieght. Now the adapter for your IDI plus the stand will definitely lighten your walleth2odrx said:

Well i could not get the stand together it seems that when they welded the wheels on they put them on wrong and the bolt holes eill not line up?
