Before you do that, do a search on here. There has been a lot of discussion on fuel pressure to the IP. Yes, fuel pressure messes with IP timing. The higher pressure pumps have been used by some with success but the problem if I recall was the massive amount of return fuel you have to deal with. Don't quote me on that for sure but I do highly recommend you do some research before you try it. It's not as simple as stick a regulator in the system.

Eric, best advice I can give you if the nut is rounded off and you can't get it apart, cut the metal line and plumb the pump back in with fuel rated hose. Should be 3/8" on the supply side. I would recommend putting a flare at the end of the metal tube to help seal it. It gives you something for the hose clamp to come up against.
