EGR tube

Was working on my 99 PSD while back and noticed the EGR tube is rotted in to . So question is how important is it , something need to order parts for and fix?

On both my trucks, I’ve eliminated the exhaust valve and actuator so I removed tube and plugged the hole in the manifold with a bolt. I left the sensor connected
but open to atmosphere to keep the PCM happy.
