uncle!!! chip truck -

code 23.i just changed the TPS in hopes it would fix the issue but nope.my TPS voltages will keep changing on it's own.i'll dial it in to 1.20V idle/4v WOT go for a test drive and can tell it's not right with super soft shifts right off the bat.so i'll test the TPS again and it's like 1.03 idle for example or something else odd ball.I'll re-adjust and end up with the same thing in just 1 minute.the screws are not loosening up physically or anything.it's electrical.i'll check the ground via ohm and it's very little to nothing and the other wire is over 5V so seems good there.what's causing this?
she'll lug and smoke like a fright train right now too even with the smoke puff limiter.to combat it i'll cancel od pre hill.the most irritating thing is the mushy shifts and 2-3 and lockup are right on top of each other.it's really nasty.
this just started a few days ago.head scratcher.the od light finally started flashing.i got the 23/14/62
62 is because it's not shifting right due to the tps i dunno about the bad tach sensor? i just tossed the new and good one on out of log truck just for giggles but no change but not gunna leave out the code info in case it helps.

edit;
my only guess are a bad ground or a bad TECA.i dunno.uncle!:D
oh and i can't try the TECA in log truck to test because it's the f450 TECA i had a pickup one in there back along but traded it out with someone.so it won't work in a pickup....well.it wont shift right and the od light would flash cus it will loath the 3.55's...but if the TPS read steady.........

Plug pack @ firewall loose at all?

The random FIPL readings are odd... it's just a potentiometer... maybe take it off and see if it ohms out consistently on a full sweep with a screwdriver. I'd suspect an internal failure, IE the wiper is detached/loose on the keyway. But, that shouldn't happen on a new one.

Using a digital meter? Are the batteries fresh? I've seen some goofy readings on a meter with weak batteries.

There are two pairs of screws that can affect the FIPL placement.... any threads goobered?

digital meter yeah.no.the battery isn't fresh.wouldn't that be a kick in the pants.i'll try putting in a new 9v and try it.
nope.im 100% positive the TPS isn't physically moving.

the teca plug should be good cus it's held in via the 10 mm bolt.......but i'll double check.

ha.i bet you hit the nail on the head with a failing battery in my meter.i didn't even think of this.sure would explain things.......save for a fairly new TPS going bad (but with things made today, not too surprising either)
yeah im really leaning towards this.explains why it never feels good on any test drive cus it's not reading anywhere near close to correct voltages in the first place.ha! oh man.my brain wasn't even "going there" on this.i bet you nailed it.thanks man!

I do recall reading that some folks had corroded pins on the teca plug... that's more what I was thinking

BDCarrillo, you nailed it,brother! thank you! my mind was so focused on the truck,i wasn't even thinking about the possibility of the tools i was using being the issue.not even a thought.i had to run out and grab a 9V.didn't have one laying around.i put that fresh battery in my meter, took a couple seconds to dial in the TPS and took her back out for a spin.............before it even had to hit her first shift i knew it was resolved.it held onto the gear is why and didn't just slip into the next one.then once it did hit 2nd i could feel that shift kit again.;) all the way up through the gears and kicking down correctly.to dark to see smoke but no matter i can tell just by feel that my meter was able to set it correctly.it's just as right as rain again.

this one fooled me good! kicked my ars lmao.oh well it could be worse........i could have to shift manually.:D

thank you BD!;Sweet

You can thank my cheapass 15 year old Chinese meter for teaching me that lesson.

Imagine my surprise when it showed 4000v on the truck batteries.

Multimeter---I think mine has an issue. I used it to diagnose a problem on my motherboard in the computer. It said I was screwed, all readings were out of range. Then for s&g I checked the house current. It told me my house runs on 140 volts rather than 120. Interesting.

I am very glad this discussion came up. I will file this away for future reference. It is always the simple stuff that gets ya!
