I've got a couple of dumb questions that I'm curious about.

I put on a tranny cooler before i left for my trip (all fresh fluids as well). I have a E4OD.The tranny now stays at 150F (while towing as well).
First question.
Can a transmission be too cold?
Second question.
What damage (if any) happens to a cold tranny?

That's it for now, but I'm sure I'll have more later

Thanks

I believe the E40D's computer will hold shift points until the trans is up to a certain temp (no idea what that is). But as far as I've heard, you cant have too many coolers on these trans.

Thats a fine temp. You can have too many coolers on the system. More coolers creates more resistance to fluid flow. During this time of year your temps are great... I'll bet in the summer time the temps will increase to 165 to 175... Even thats fine.... Getting past 220 and you start having issues. The hotter it gets the shorter the life of the trans. I think at 250 you only have about 15 minutes of trans life... Never a reason to get them that hot.... Seals melt and fluid dies creating all kinds of trash going thru the trans....
