Dana will have a 10 bolt cover, while the Sterling will have a 12 bolt cover. If it is a Dana 60 or 70, it will be cast into the webbing of the pumpkin "60" or "70".

Look at the inside of the door jam and that sticker will have an axle code. Post it here and we will decode it for you.

Heres what Dana 70 looks like

You must be registered for see images attach

Mine to has been making a pretty loud whining noise, ONLY inbetween 40-45mph only when accelerating. Steady speed, you can hardly hear anything, and decelerating nothing at all.

No leaks. I was supose to pop the cover off last summer to service it and have a look at the condition in there. Doesn't look like it's ever been flushed out. I will do it this summer though.

Did you shake the shaft near the U-joint to check for looseness? Sometimes the nut loosens ,causing leaking pinion seals & gear missalignment, which = whining rear.
