Does my 7.3 IDI need an overhaul

I've been driving my 1992 diesel for a couples months and it started knocking one day and losing oil pressure driving down the highway. When I checked the motor oil it was 4 quarts low. I refilled it and checked it the next week, after what appeared to be another knocking sound, and it was almost 2 gallons low after maybe 5 hours of running time. So she's parked for now. It burned over two quarts the next day on roughly an hour of driving trying to get it home.

I just ordered factory service manuals from eBay, and I'm planning to do a full rebuild and maybe a turbo and injector pump mod.

The truck is in south central Louisiana. Does anyone know a good shop around here that can help with the work?
