My 7.3 block has the dipstick in the front boss and a ball bearing or something blocking the rear boss. How do I remove it. Do I just stick a taper punch in and smack it with a hammer?[IMG]

Of course I forgot this in my list on the other post. We would use RTV to seal the ball in the hole. I don't know if it's necessary, but we did it anyway.

On my old 94 idi-t i had it was loosing lots of oil. Happened to see that ball was missing. I took a bolt and covered it in ultra grey and shoved it in the hole.

    Are these only on turbos?

Mine is leaking from somewhere near the rear of the engine and I haven't found the leak yet. I don't think its the turbo drain or rear main seal.

The oil is most likely running down from the top of the engine. Look up top.

Check the oil pressure sensor on the back of the block behind the intake

I'll check that. Its a banks turbo setup so they probably tapped into that port.

All of the 6.9/7.3 blocks have two holes for dipstick access. Only the IHC versions use the front hole. The unused hole is blocked off by this ball.
