My 7.3 block has the dipstick in the front boss and a ball bearing or something blocking the rear boss. How do I remove it. Do I just stick a taper punch in and smack it with a hammer?

Of course I forgot this in my list on the other post. We would use RTV to seal the ball in the hole. I don't know if it's necessary, but we did it anyway.

Are these only on turbos?

Mine is leaking from somewhere near the rear of the engine and I haven't found the leak yet. I don't think its the turbo drain or rear main seal.

The oil is most likely running down from the top of the engine. Look up top.
