I machined mine out of 6061 AL.I started out with a piece of 5" tubing with 1/4" walls, The base was turned out to 5.250" and I welded a cap on the top and turned it to clean it up all nice and pretty like :sly Then I milled a hole in the side and welded a piece of 4" tubing in the side. I made it just tall enough to clear the Inj Lines. Then I built an extension tube out of 304 SS to run right down to where the old intake went in the Core Support.

I think I am just going fm do a bunch of measuring then start building!! Move the fuel filter first. Probably won't start till February due to funds.

Since we are on the subject of air intakes, has anyone ever bought or built a snorkel system.
Just wondering??

What kind of snorkel? Raised air or bumper/air dam induction. Julio aka redstang found a Safari Snorkel from a nissan patrol that bolted up to his OBS truck and It looks awesome. Works well too from what I gather as all the pics he posts here are of his truck fording giant gumbo mud holes down in Panama. As far as bumper or air dam induction, you could make that out of dryer vent or the like............I personally like the raised air intakes myself especially if you do hardcore 4wd stuff where you could ingest water or dust into the intake stalling or ruining your engine.
