coolant filter install

hey guys any of you put in a spin on type coolant filter that actually works and doesn't block off the coolant flow?

where would you put it? in the heater core lines?

Is it as simple as it seems?

I put one on my 76 and it didnt have enough water pressure to push through the filter and out the other side?

napa has ones that i would get, because they have everything to do it plus the precharged dca filters

there is a plug on the water pump below the thermostat
feed the coolant filter from here,,then retun into the degass bottle line
works on truck with degass only.
other wise put a t in each heater hose, feed from one and return from the other

Degas bottle is the PSD equivalent of the overflow bottle. Also it is the only place to get fluid into the cooling system since the radiator has no cap.

I put mine in the heater hoses - seems to work fine.

What I've not been able to figure out is how to make the ranger / aerostar heater control valve shut off with the AC so the AC works better in the summer - so, I shut it manually in the spring.

you could always swap in a water pump for the international trucks.

ih pump has a spot built in for the filter to screw on.

well i did it. was a real pita because of my intercooler and general way to large frame for working on trucks. I did end up mounting it way way up on the frame tucked underneath the passenger outside of the frame. Cant tell its there and will be easy to change with the ball valves i put on it while changing my oil etc.

Has anyone else used the napa filter kit with the precharged dca filters?
