Cold filtering WMO

After seeing and reading some of the other post about heating your wmo I now have some questions on cold filtering it.

We (my dad and I) were heating our oil to get water out and get it thin enough to fuge it was working great until Mom told us it make the garage to stinky and her car stinks now so we have to move out little chemistry set somewhere else. We never really settled our oil much allot of it was just pre filtered down to 150 microns heated and fuged with decent results but we either need to change our ways or move our operation and at my parents house it works best.

So questions

If I pre filter down to 150 microns and add 10 gallons of kerosene to 40 gallons of oil will that work like RUG to get the water and small particles and sludge to the bottom? I would rather use kerosene

i mix kero(JP8) in my WMO and push it through a goldenrod filter to get the water out of mime. 50/50 mix.

I've got a water filter also, don't use JP8 (nice) for thinning I used some RUG or some #1 diesel.
I think I'm gonna stay away from RUG if I can help it, vapors from gasoline & enclosed garage in the winter could be bad.
I really really want to get some stuff like what Devilish talked amount in a different thread.

This stuff has the viscosity of gasoline, but still is a oil. I think that would mix with wmo very well.

I've been doing a 50/50 cold filtering blend of D2 and mineral oil, also trow a couple of gallons of WMO in the mix too, working great so far! super thin too, wanna try 75/25 of mineral to kero

No, kerosene will not work like RUG in terms of breaking chemical bonds and causing water and dirt to separate. It is effective in reducing the viscosity of your mix (although not as effective as gasoline) but it will definitely not have the same effect that RUG has.

so after you mix in the RUG how long do you let it sit?

I usually try and give it at least 24 hours before I drain it the first time. If very little water/sludge comes out, I'll consider it ready for the centrifuge. If a lof of water/slime comes out, I'll give it another 24 hours and then check it again.

I have my new W85 settling barrel and stand made now just need to pick up a few ball valves to finish the project up. I think I will get a golden rod water block filter or two also.

When I Buy RUG should I look for ethanol free? There is a few places I can get it but its mid grade or premium gas.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier but I'd skip the water block filter. As long as you're settling properly and draining the bottom before you filter off the middle/top, water will be a non-issue.

As for the RUG, I always buy ethanol free just because it *seems* like it'll work better. I don't have any proof of that gut feeling though.

Some say that the Ethanol help build combustion temperatures. My IDI smells and smokes like the worst BBQ grill in the world when I mixed RUG into the mix. I dump all my leftovers into my 55 gallon "***** tank" and mix with RUG. ***** tank is a flat bottomed separating tank. Then I sell the wmo as off road diesel fuel.

Yikes. I'd be very careful stating you "sell" fuel (even for off road use) on a public forum.

That is unless your are jumping thru all the hoops the gubernment wants you to, to be in the fuel business.

How about mixing in old gas I can usually come up with a bunch of old gas from boats or cars that have been sitting for a year or two.
