Ok on my 1993 truck I'm wondering if the clutch is slipping. I've had it twice now that I'll be pulling my 8'x30' enclosed trailer and i'll be trying to accelerate in 4th gear. When I hit the fuel the tach will jump 500 rpm, but the speed isn't. Seems like a slipping clutch to me. I'll let out of the throttle to let the RPM's settle down and then it seems fine for the rest of the trip. Both times it's done this is within the first 4-5 miles of pulling the trailer. Otherwise with smaller trailers or running empty the clutch feels great.
As I do have an extreme oil consumption/leak issue with this truck I'm also wondering if I have an oiled up clutch and that its slipping to burn off the oil then holding OK? Probably a stretch but just wondering.
So Slipping clutch from wear or Oiled up clutch? Any good tell tales? I know I need to pop the access cover and take a look in there.
Thanks,
Jeremy
