Clearance Lights

My clearance lights are leaking and lenses are getting cracks so I,m replacing them and I found these on amazon made by trucklight and looks to be a direct replacement for ford lights. At $5 each I though it was a great deal so I'm passing it on

Please report back on what you get with it when it comes. I was just thinking the other day that I wanted new lights. Mine weren't terrible but a couple of the gaskets tore as I peeled them off.

Well idea never guessed that my srw truck would have cab marker lights as an option. They are required on dullys here though. My truck came from am and had all kinds of reflective tape I assume was an option or required there.

Far as fords, nearly all 3/4 and 1 tons have cab lights.
Chevy, not so much.
Guess it's just how it was ordered new, but I don't think I've seen any ford 3/4 without them.

I've seen quite a few F-250's and even SRW F-350's that don't have cab lights. They were optional equipment on SRW trucks and required on DRW trucks.

Technically, you need to have them on an SRW truck if you're towing a trailer that's more than 80" wide (with rear clearance lights on the trailer), but I have a feeling that many people who got SRW trucks thought the cab lights were just for looks.

I'd love to see the language that requires lights on the cab for either a dually bed or a trailer over a certain width. Yes, more TRAILER lights are required for over 80" wide, but CAB lights?

And I see a LOT more OBS trucks, 3/4 ton and up, without cab lights than with cab lights.

Neither the '84 or '90 F250 I used to own had cab lights. This is the first one I've had with them. Yesterday, I thought I'd be cool and replace the bulbs with LEDs and really messed a couple housings up, 20 years in the sun makes them brittle. I don't trust what's left of the gaskets to seal now.

Just ordered a new set from Ryder for $31 shipped. Thanks for the heads up madpogue

Fyi. I noticed my carpet was wet on thepassenger side. Defiantly not antifreeze. I thought i had a leak at the heater box or windshield. So i left the kick pannel off and fliped up the carpet so it would dry . Then when it was raining hard i checked it and water was dripping at a good rate out of the wire loom on the wire for the cab lights that is under the passenger kick pannel. Head liner is not wet at all. Just thought I would pass on this for anyone else chaising a water leak

Note items 3, 6, and 16 in the table...the three center lights are technically separate from the outer two lights, even though Ford put them evenly spaced on the front of '80-'97 trucks...most other trucks with cab lights have the three center lights clustered together and the two outboard lights at the edges of the cab. Per the table, the vehicles this applies to are:
B. Buses and trucks 2,032 mm (80 inches) or more in overall width; and
C. Truck tractors.
Also, take a look at Footnote #15, specifying that marker lamps need to be present on the outermost edges of a vehicle...I don't think the DRW fenders count as "flexible fender extensions", so the marker lights that all DRW fenders have are actually required to be there.

Maybe it's different in other states, but in California, pickup trucks are required to be registered as commercial vehicles and have to adhere to commercial standards.

Take a look at the Hummers, the Ford F-150 Raptor, the Fiat-based Dodge vans, and the Chebby pickups that had Quadra-steer installed. Those all have mandatory clearance lights forward and aft (the Raptor put them in the grille, which per Footnote #1 on the table is actually illegal). For that matter, have you seen a factory DRW pickup (not counting custom jobs, cab swaps, etc) that didn't have clearance lights on the front and the back?

I'll give you this much...if you have an SRW truck and you're towing an RV trailer that's over 80" wide and has amber clearance lights on the front that are visible above the truck cab, I don't think you need clearance lights on the truck cab. However, if you have a flatbed trailer or a boat trailer that doesn't have front clearance lights, then you do need them on the cab...although I'm guessing Smokey Bear isn't going to say much to someone towing a ski boat with a pickup truck unless he's really bored that day
