Hi,
I am looking to purchase a GV for my c6. I have found a p type that is just the unit and wiring (no c6 tail housing). If I can source a c6 tail-housing is there any reason why this unit wouldn't work? I know some are set up for a mechanical speedo cable and some are set up for an electronic.....are there any other things I should check to make sure it is compatible? Thanks

See the Gear Venodrs for sale in the Market Place before you buy what your looking at. Normally a gv is a very good addition to any auto trans. As you posted some are designed for electronic speedos and some are not. Depends on what you have now. You might want to get the serial numbers off the unit and give gv a call. Ask them about this unit. I sold what your looking for several months ago for $600.00 to a member here. Mine had the markings in addition to the serial numbers XR in them. That means the unit I had was a factory rebuilt unit. They don't get much better than that. Also you want the "P" unit. The "J" unit is the older ones. You can tell by the size of the speedo cable housing. If its around 2 inch on the side of the unit its a "P" type unit. If its about 1 inch then its the "J" type unit. GV now has bought out the company in Englad that they used to buy these from and modify to fit our american cars and trucks. They own it all now and will help you with both units. What they wont do is sell you an adapter to fit the gv to your trans. That way they keep the corner on the market of you buying a complete unit from them. They will "trade" your adapter for one that works on your trans... And charge a fee for that "trade". But no outrite sales or trades. Check on ebay. Usually there is some adapters availble there. Ask gv when you can what the adapter will cost and if you don't have one and can't find one just get the best deal on ebay for one and "trade" with gv. Its an expensive way to do business but about all we have. You also need the brain for your trans too. Not all brains are compatible with all trans setups. they can walk you thru that infor too.

Russ. Yours is the "P" type because of the bigger speedo holes and the next post is the guy in Aromus Ca that usually has the best price on units and adapters.
