Breather Valve

I have a 91 f 250 7.3 idi with a 088 ats turbo. I had to make a new breather for the motor. I made one that vents out of the valve cover through a 3/4 inch tube and dumps on the ground. I was wondering if I can run the hose from the valve cover to the intake before the turbo? If so, do you need any form of a valve like a pvc valve or something or can I run it straight to the intake tube.

you can run it to the cdr.

I did away with the valve cover deal as it used alot of oil.
I welded a 3/4elbow to the timing cover and routed a hose to the cdr, preturbo.
no oil usage

I cant run it to the cdr because my turbo pedistal is in its place.

Heres what my 088 turbocharger has (this is with the older 085 but they are basically the same). The ATS airbox has provision for mounting the CDR valve and normally there is a valve cover that comes with the kit that allows crank case gasses to vent to the new CDR location. I just modified my own valve cover (you have to add a baffle in there).

Now I understand how to rig it up. The turbo that I bought didnt come with the big air filter box, so I was a little unclear on what you were talking about. I took off my valve cover and welded in a baffle, but get oil coming out of the hose I installed. Should I be worried about that stuff coming out of the motor and into the turbo? I would think it should be fine but you never know. If I am thinking right the turbo will suck the steam or smoke or what ever comes out of the motor. If thats the case is that bad?

Are you getting oil mist that condenses into liquid over time? if so, thats what you expect. Thats what the CDR was designed to deal with, it is functionally a diesel PCV valve. Solid drops or a steady stream of oil is VERY bad and would mean that something is wrong.

Yes it is a oil mist that condenses. Every once in awhile I will get a oil drip on the ground.

Yeah thats completely normal. Rig up the CDR and you'll be good to go.

Does the CDR Valve have to be mounted with the inlet pointing down? I mounted mine with the inlet on the top.

I would think down so as to keep the oil out?
