Stupid fat fingers: I run heavy and to get my truck to stop I had to, 1- got a master cylinder from a mid 70's Ford truck ( same casting number so all the same line sizes but with a SMALLER bore.) This increases the line pressure, the only trade off is a little more pedal travel. 2- put a larger bore rear wheel cylinder to increase push on shoes. 3- Put F350 rear shoes on, wider but fit the drum. Now its not scary.

One thing to remember on old drum brakes, the adjustors only work if you are going fast enough in reverse and make a solid application. They are activated by rear (main) shoe moving. Going forward there is not enough movement.
