Hey all,

Tried searching a bit for this but couldn’t find anything - not sure if the obs trucks have a similar component. Got an 88 idi and the brake lights sometimes stay on when the brake pedal isn’t pressed.
Not sure if it was like this when I got the truck but only noticed things after replacing the brake master cylinder this past winter.

There is a little electrical component that’s connected to the pin that keeps the brake pedal lever in place. I can jiggle this component and sometimes “pull the brake pedal up” with my toe to make the lights turn off.

Anyone know the right way to fix? There’s some rotational movement on the sensor component and not sure if that’s the reason or something else.

The brake lights seem to function fine (well not the top rear cabin light but that’s another issue..) but just stay on sometimes when the pedal isn’t pressed.

Not sure if this due to the component mentioned above or if I need to bleed the brakes again or something else. The brakes seem to work well and are the best they’ve ever been for me (after front caliper rebuild and some other small stuff).

Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated thanks, will add some photos here in a few

Here’s the component. There’s some electrical tape but it’s just covering some stripped section of wire - I don’t believe this is a cause at the moment

Haha think it’s all good now. It was a while ago but must’ve been after replacing the brake booster. The sensor was installed incorrectly - it needs to be perpendicular to the pedal not parallel

Correct that is how it should sit.
