Brake issues

During the winter my brakes light would come on and the brake pedal was hard to push. Once the engine warmed up it worked normal.

Once the weather warmed up it operated as it should. Now when I push the brakes the pedal goes almost all the way to the floor and the brakes seem less efficient. It gets to the end and then I really have to press hard to get it to slow down.

Just doesnt seems right. I have plenty of fluid and plenty of brake pads left. I did notice that the front rotors seemed lightly cracked perpendicular to the rotating motion.

booster going bad? would make sense if the diaphram is cold until it expends a little. how is the vacuum supply?

have u bleed the brakes at all?

Booster or vac pump... or vac leak. I'd look for a leak first, then replace the vac pump (its cheap). If its the booster I don't think its very cheap.

i vote vac is headed south. from the way you describe it

I was under the impression that the brake light coming on was an indication of a bad or failing vacuum pump. It may get replaced tomorrow just for the heck of it.

I'll report back.

Anyone have tips on replacing the vac pump?

A 10 mm Six Point Socket for the bolts, Pliers for the hose clamp & a Power Steering Pulley Puller and Installer for the Pulley. Anti-Seize on the shaft for the next guy.
