So found a mechanic locally, went through a fixed a few things that have been missed along the way, truck is running better now and feel better about driving it. He did say he was not able to get an air filter from any local parts supplier, thinks it is only ordered from Banks, something like this one: http://www.jegs.com/i/Banks/139/41505/10002/-1 However, he is not a huge fan of reusable filters, says when he worked at ford, they found they let too much through the filter. Is there a standard replacement for this? Or is there something I can do to put a regular cone type filter on it? I was thinking if necessary we could take the air filter out of the square housing entirely, and just put a cold air intake on at the end where the air pick up is already located. I have done a bit of googling and a few folks have referred to mods people make, but have not found a thread specifically on it.
As a general update for those who have helped me on my threads in the past, you may recall my truck was making a low vibratory type noise around 1200 rpm, didnt matter whether it was moving or not. He heard it too, unlike the other folks, but was not able to attribute it to something specific. He thinks something on it, likely something in the tight spaces with all the banks stuff that was added, is vibrating when harmonics are just right. He does not think it is anything serious, or it so early in the process of going bad that it cannot be directly identified. I will keep an 'ear' on it and see if it changes.
Thanks all!
