Bad injector line?

I have an injector line leaking at the injector connection. It started as a gusher, spitting fuel about a foot in the air. I took it apart and cleaned up the end with a wire wheel and skotchbrite. I put it together a couple times and it still leaks. Less gushing, foamy and still a noticable miss in the engine when running.

Is this a bad line? I am not sure how the ends are formed but is seems like it may be a two piece system and mine is starting to separate allowing the fuel to leak in between.

If it's coming out of the hard line, it's a flare type fitting so it should seal. You may want to check the flared end to see if there's a crack. Are all 4 of the line clamps in place? If not then it may be cracked. Also make sure it's not just the return line or cap that's leaking (more common).

I am certain its the hard line, I just was not sure of how common this is. The clamps have been off for about 800 miles. My spare lines are about 25 minutes away from my house, gonna try to get them tonight, hopefully this will be the cure.

I will clean up and paint the clamps as well, guess this is my line clamp lesson of the day.

The vibration is pretty severe to the lines if the clamps are off and it doesn't take long at all for them to crack. Just don't do it again!

Well... Yes this is your lesson for the whys we keep all and not just some of the line clamps on the hard lines. You have a break right at the flair as I did many years ago. That lesson cost me almost $400.00 at the dealer because I didn't feel I could handle the job... How things changed..... Hopefully you can reach the line nut on the pump easily... If not just start taking them off till you can... You wont mix the line up when it goes back together. Sorry you had to find out the hard way but.... At least someone was here to help and you were not on the dark side of the moon... On a Sunday nite.... After 9pm...

Got my spare hard lines today, painted the one slated for duty, and installed it. Presto, no leaks, truck runs smooth again. Cleaned, painted and installed all of the hard line clamps also. Gonna bump the timing up a bit more tomorrow as it sounds a bit lame compared to the previous setup that was timed by a shop. I'm looking for that PSD sounding rattle when the high idle solinoid is engaged.

I'm having a similar problem with my 86, the PO cross threaded the line onto the injector causing a small spurt of a leak but the truck seems to run fine. The injector threads were trashed so I replaced it but it still leaks. The line looked ok but I guess it could have cracked around the flare from being tightened down crooked. I guess I will throw on a spare line as well and see if that helps.
