i was wondering what the front and rear axles oil capacitys are. and what gear oil you reccomend. i dont want to go to fancy. its a 1500 dollar truck. but problem is the rear axle from what the last owner told me hasnt been done in the last 10 years....lol.... after i bought the truck he told me. so i would like to do asap.

Dana 60 rear axle =6.0 pints
Ford 10.25 rear axle =7.5 pints
Dana 44 Front axle =3.8 pints
Dana 50 front axle =4.1 pints
Dana 60 front axle =5.8 pints

Oil is Hypoid 80-90w gear oil.

how do i tell what axle i have? i believe it has 11 or 12 bolts on the rear pumpkin. if that helps.

i was just searching your other posts after i answered your question about axle code,to see if you provided any info on your truck.but you haven't yet.
if you have a idi diesel truck f250-350,the changes are great that your axle is a 10.25 full floating rear axle.
what's your rig?

what's your rig?

it is a 1990 f250 with the 7.3 IDI non turbo. 491,000 kms. E4OD which i am not impressed with.

If you have a 10.25 limited slip the 80-90w basic gear lube would be fine, withthat you would need 4 oz friction modifier for the clutches in the diff.
