Thank you ! Very useful resource. I was able to identify my truck rear diff from its tag. Less luck for the front diff though, tag rusted beyond clear reading. Is there similar resource for older front diff tag info ?
What are you trying to find out?
Rear is 3l55 ......3.55 limited slip,
Front shows 3.54 no limited slip

exactly that - I put last time (long time ago, > 10 years) ordinary gear oil into rear and front differentials. Now your information suggests that it was not quite right, do I need to put special gear oil for limited slip differential in rear

I use regular oil with the trac-lok (LSD).

Reason being they are already broken-in, (or who-knows how worn out) and I want the thing to grip all it can. So far no problems in 20 years with several different trucks.
