Here are the serial #s and changes made to the 6.9. If planning to rebuild I would want a block with bolt in piston cooling nozzles. The early ones were press in and may be difficult to reuse and I don't believe new ones are available. Rockers can be replaced with new ones, just more money. The early blocks had issues cracking around the block heater if plugged in when below freezing.
