Interesting that the guy's wearing a Kitty-Cat hat, but that engine sounds like an 855 Cummins to me (confirmed by a post in the comments)

The boat my Scout group uses has air starters for her Cummins 1468 V-12's. Two tanks, and each one is 2 or 3 feet across and probably 16 feet long
(the tanks are mounted sideways, and the boat has a 20' beam)

I agree that an air starter would be awesome, but it would take quite a bit of air to reliably crank a cold engine over...where would all the tanks go?The boat my Scout group uses has air starters for her Cummins 1468 V-12's. Two tanks, and each one is 2 or 3 feet across and probably 16 feet long

I have owned 3 diesel pusher 40 ft buses with air starters on Detroit 8V71 engines.
IF the air system is tight and you have NO leak down anywhere, you MAY get a start. If you have any air issues at all, like the start solenoid valve leaking or other issues, you have a whole system to wring out, usually in the worst place possible.
The chance of getting a "Boost" are slim to none, anywhere. Tow companies are not equipped to "pump you up" so you can "try it again".. so, if the air starter failed.. and they did.. it was a Landoll lowboy trailer at $200 per hr.. dock to dock.. to flatbed them to where they could be fixed... After 2 of those $1000 tow bills.. I ripped the air starters out, replaced them with 24 volt Delco starters [new in the box $400] and did the conversion to full electric start..
Never looked back... Sorry.. your "music" only brings back visions of $$$$$$$$ flying away..![]()

Other than the miss it sounds exactly like the 280 Cummins I had in my 62 pete.
