Has anyone ever heard of an air starter for the 7.3L?

I would be interested on installing one on my truck.

I all ready have all of the compressor, tank and plumbing issues resolved, now I just need to find an air starter.

Thanks,

WB

I think installing one would be rather cool as well but they are a bit demanding (air flow) and unforgiving(limited air supply). I know they make them or the old 6.9L engines and the DT466 but I have not seen any for the T444e. IIRC Ingersoll Rand part# ss175 is the vane style used on the 6.9 and similar displacement engines. The starter uses a std. SAE bolt pattern so it is very possible it will bolt onto a 7.3 since it uses a SAE adapter for the trans and that is what the starter bolts into.
WB- How big of an air tank do you have and how big are the lines coming out of it? They must be BIG. IIRC The air inlet on that starter is about 1" in diameter, and the flow requirements are about 400 SCFM @ 120 psi. You better set it up with a gladhand connector as well, just in case you need a jump start sometime.

Thanks for the input... I was just kicking around the idea.

Ingersoll-Rand has one but it runs $1200.... too much money for me.

Oh well
