Air Intrusion Help

Hey guys, I know there's a few threads about air intrusion already, but I still need help.

There is most definitely an air intrusion and I have no idea where it is.

Because of this, it makes the truck extremely hard to start, and totally kills the batteries on cold winter days like today.

So I need a way to figure out exactly where the air is getting into the fuel system. Any help would be appreciated.

it's by far the most common issue with the engine,so there's way more than few threads on it.
it's no easy task tracking down air holes in the fuel system.one of the first places to suspect is the return lines but you've got so many possibilities too.
have you inspected the fuel lines yet? particularly around the steel line mounting clips along the frame?

#1 is the stock WFS still being used?

#2 return lines! unless you have done them recently.

#3, replace ALL rubber fuel lines.

#4 how is the FSV?

Are your batteries good? You need to have each one tested independently of the other battery. BOTH must be good or FAILURE. This is the number 1 problem with cold starts!

do you still have the water separator on the 86 truck? if so, either bypass it or push a 3/8 bolt in the drain tube. common leak if ring is pulled to drain water separator

How about instead of telling us there are lots of threads and so forth you tell us something we dont know.

Do this in clear concise point form with details if need be.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO INVESTIGATE IT.

Replace ALL Olives?
New return caps and O rings?
Fuel heater leaking?
Soft line from rear of engine to hqrd plastic return line?
Soft line from frame side to oift pump?

You tell us so we dont havrle to play pin the tail on donkey

Look up vibra-lok sleeve. Our engines take 5/16" and 3/8" McMaster and Grainger sell them among other places. They are a little pricey. Not sure if the guys selling here may offer better pricing but McMaster is downright extortionate for what amounts to a glorified o-ring.
