Air Dyers

What brand are you all using? Bendix? Haldex? I want to get one on my rig, but there's a lot to chose from. Any on-line suppliers selling 'em for good prices?

hey Duke, I had a Bendix on my Int'l. it was mounted in a real bad spot, outside the frame rail on the passenger side right behind the exhaust stack. in the winter the blow off valve would stick/freeze and it would leak

OK, that's good to know. I'm looking at Bedix's at around $300. Haldex makes cheaper ones. Do all of them have a monitor/indicator that's wired to the dash?

We run all Bendix AD-SP's on our company rigs. Except for a few of the new ones that have some other gadget onboard.

Spin on filter, easy to replace spitter valve, and heater element.

Convenience is everything, when it comes to fleet maintenance.

$300!! must be for an AD-9. I was thinking that the AD-SP's were around $250-$275.

I can check at the shop tomorrow. Today is my day off.:D

Just FYI, I 've never had an AD-9 die on the job. They are just a pain in the butt, if you have to kit one.

The AD-SP's are a lil less reliable, but much easier to work on.

Late reply again :D

Before you buy a air dryer make sure your compressor isn't slobbering if it is fix the compressor and throughly clean the air tanks. You don't want to load up a new dryer with white snot.

Air dryers work well especially if you live in humid areas but it doesn't replace draining the air tanks every night.

As for brand Bendix is the most common here usually they are mounted behind the passenger side fuel tank.

I'll stand by Bendix/Haldex/Midland, over anyone else, based on personal experience.

P.S. Ooops, forgot to check those prices at work. Maybe I can remember tomorrow. LOL

Got an Airdryer mostly installed today. I bought a Meritor/Wabco on sale at the local truck parts warehouse for $250.

Install went pretty smooth so far. I had to fab a steel mounting bracket and used 2 already exising frame bolt holes to mount the bracket & airdryer.

I ran the heat wiring to my auxillary fuse block.

I still have to get the lines made up this week.

So far so good. Thanks for all the advice guys.:thanks:
