after changing Injector return kit hoses still wet

Hello,

A while ago I changed my injector return kit, now, after 1600 miles the hoses between the injectors are wet.
having a better look, the plastic parts which goes over the injectors turn, are they supposed to?

They turn when you try to turn them or they move when the engine is running?

I'd check closely to see if the caps (those plastic pieces) are all properly seated. They're supposed to "click" into place.

Did you use any lube on the o-rings when installing them?

Are the lines "damp" or are you leaking a noticeable amount of fuel? It's possible the hose is just weeping slightly causing them to look damp.

Did you get a good kit or a cheap kit? (Where did you buy it and do you remember the brand)

Sounds like the caps are not seated all the way down on the injector. Try this. Remove the hard lines and slip an o ring over the top of the plastic cap. then tighten down the hard line. this forces the cap down properly.

When I did my return kit, I didn't like the retaining clips, which hold the hose to the cap. I tried a hose clamp on one line, and it instantly leaked; yet was way tighter than the banjo clips. I put the regular clip back, and the same line, even though it was loser, held a seal.

No clue as to whether the above helps, or not, but figured it's something.

What color were the original return line clamps? Did the caps change in how the return lines connect? We have an offset cap that will use ONLY the red clamps. Thats because this is the larger line. the caps with the return lines directly in the center of the cap will use ONLY the green clamps because thats the smaller lines. DO NOT EVER MIX AND MATCH THEM. You will have leaks.

I bought a set from Mel,they have the red clamps, and the caps are darkblue or black (if I remember correctly), have the offset hose connection, and yes I used vaseline to mount the caps. the hoses are damp, (but way more than I like them to).

When I mounted the caps I took care that they "plopped" in place.
Normally when I start a job I'm unfamiliar with, I like to read myself in, as in: read a manual, so that there will preferably no suprises.

And my truck, beeing a '89 7.3, had a different system, the gray caps, with centered hose connections with the green clamps.

I also had to change the hose connection from the fuel filter, but Susie (from mels place) took care of that. thumbs up!
