A4OD question.............

I bought my 94 IDI turbo last month with the a4od in it,I have always had 5 speeds so I am not familiar with this trans,I need to know if this is normal,When I drive easy around it shifts nice and crisp,when I am on a little to alot it will shift from 3000 rpm to 2500 ish then to say.. 2200.,not seperate shifts,this is from 1 st to second,and second to third does the same thing,It seems like a slip but not really.I almost feels like a 2 stage shift,it gets no worse or better,same all the time,is that the converter locking up or not? I never messed with autos,all my Mustangs and trucks have been manual.
Any input would ne nice.Thanks,Tim

If the trans is going,at least I only have 1500.00 the whole truck so far!!

I have 187000 miles on the original E40D in my 93 and it shifts as you describe. Almost as if it is an 2 stage shift. It is the TQ as far as I know.

It seems normal to me as it is still shifting solid.

I wouldn't. You may wait for a few more E40D guys to weigh in, but I think thats how its sposed to work.
