93 7.3 n/a hard to start! an i need performance tips!

i have a 1993 ford f250 with the 7.3 idi non turbo. it is really hard to start even when its warm outside. i know my gp relay is bad as it will only cycle my gps one time so i was wondering if yall could tell me if the relay being bad is my problem or if i have other problems? just let me know what yall think the problem is. Also im looking for some cheap performance i know i can turn the pump up but i dont know where to put the thermo couple in the exhaust for the pyrometer..... im new to the idi's so any tips will help......THANKS IN ADVANCE!
