I'm thinking about selling my 83 since I recently picked up a rust free 90, and was wondering what it's worth. The pickup has around 196,000 miles while the motor only has about 85,000 runs good doesn't burn a lot of oil, clutch is still good. The body has the typical rust along with some fender damage from a deer I hit and the bed has a crease from the parking brake letting go and jackknifing a trailer. The pics are recent but the rims are being swapped for the factory steel/hubcap setup and the rear bumper will be replaced with a chrome drop bumper. It has two new group 31 batteries, glow plugs are only a few months old, belts have around 4,000 miles on them, alternator was upgraded for a 130 amp 3G, and it has a gooseneck in the bed.

I would offer $1500 Here's Why....

No Tac.
Single Cab.
Non-Turbo(A Plus for Me)
Rust/Bed damaged.
No Offense. But that's just my opinion
Other than that it looks like a nice truck.

No offense taken I'm just trying to get an idea of what's a fair price I paid $2000 for it a year ago. If it was an extended cab and had a better body I'd be keeping it.

1500 seems right for the local Texas market. Same kinda comments as Waystro on the cab.

Yes 1500 seems a little low to me but it all depends on what they are going for in the area. Lately here in Cali, a truck like that may hit $2-2500. The 6.9/7.3 idi prices for the area that I live in have gone up since I bought my rig.

A running 4x4 manual NA mechanical diesel truck is worth MINIMUM $1500 here, in almost any condition. If it's fairly clean (and that is MINIMAL rust), it's closer to $2K. This is the kind of SHTF vehicle the prep community is constantly looking for. Since this truck is an '83 with something other than the original engine, the big question is what year engine is it? The '83 up to early '85 engines had a weakness in the block, whereby it could crack if the block heater were left plugged in. Knowing the origins of the engine would go a long way toward determining its value.

We'll I live in Salado a couple hours north on 35 and would be interested in trying to come and see the truck.
