left side of block, below exh mnfld, in front of oil filter--tubular piece

Yup,
Like Geoge said, driver's side of block, below the exhaust manifold. The oil filter is on the rear header for the cooler. It is a tube looking deal. Sorry, I don't have a photo, but here are some I found while sniffing around:

Thanks. I have changed the oil and filter on this thing upteen times, and never knew what I was looking at. From my reading on this site, I wanted to be able to keep an eye on it in case it begins to weep, seep or outright leak!
