can I replace the 7.3 P/S in a '96 with a 6.9? interface issues? mechanical/electrical? will the PCM be looking for sensor signals that are no longer there? more pain that it is worth?
thanks,

my very own hell
The PSD is an all-electronics engine, there ain't even a throttle pedal cable. The PCM will be looking for all sorts of sensors that will not be there with the IDI, so you should swap in a PCM from an IDI truck, those only manage the trans. Will probably have to swap main harnesses as well...

not even close to worth the hassle. the guages would be a joke and if there is emissions regs in your area it wont pass either.

ok, ok, I'm convinced...

...not worth the hassle.
I looked at a '96 with a blown engine. It's in excellent condition...I just hate to pour money into the PowerStroke. I'll keep looking...
thanks,
