Water methanol injection, check out the tech article on it. Don't get carried away with it or you will need a new motor, but a little will really wake her up. Another way would be propane but that would cost a little more say $200 or $300. Then there is a turbo, if you're a good scrounge it would run you about twice what propane would cost. Good luck. These old trucks are fun.

Welcome to the forum.... The best you can get in the way of horsepower is adding a turbo but... Thats expensive if you buy it new. Shopping around you can find them for around $500.00 and up. If you add a turbo you must have a boost gauge and a pyrometer gauge. Then you will be able to turn up the fuel and make it run with some hp... Adding propane or water-methonel is another idea. Usually this is called running window washer fluid because thats exactly what you do. Its injected into the air intake just like propane is or water is done... Just depends on what you are looking for. Running a set of 4.10 gears will make it feel likes its got planty of hp not no top end. Usually these motors top out at around 3000 rpm and 55 or 60 mph running those gears....

First off get yourself a good Pyrometer, make a free flow intake and exhaust, water **** injection will def. help, turn the pump up a flat or two- only after you get a pyro- these engines (esp. N/A) build exhaust heat fast.
