Well, my big projects for the summer are done. Did the Tranny mod today. Went pretty well. I decided to cut the brackets off to lessen the amount of room needed to mount because I was already limited on space. I used 8 radiator zip ties & the thing WILL NOT budge. Spaced it forward off the IC using the little foam pads that come with the zip ties & I cut some pieces of heater hose to wrap around the corners just to be safe. Didn't have to cut to much off the back of the header panel either. It got a little thin out toward the ends of the cooler but everything is still sturdy when put back together. Took it for a spin & the temp gauge didn't even move. Got back & added a quart & a half. We're pulling the 5'er this weekend so I'll get a better read on how well this mod works on the older trucks. Worked wonders on my 03 some I'm expecting good results!;Sweet Only down side was I had to tear the whole front off the truck again to do this.......
Pics for ya...

That looks nice. I've seen this done on earlier SD's, always wondered if it would fit on an OBS. Looks like a snug fit with that intercooler. Good job!

I can agree the 6.0 Trans-cooler works well. The 6.0's have a stock "temp-gauge" as part of the cluster..... I know not a real gauge, but the newer ones seem to work better that the older ones... and something is better than nothing.... Towing a heavy load in 90+ temps, (Camper, Dodge Cummins 2500) I have never seen the temps climb on the 5r-110. It get to less than half way and stays there..... high temps, hills with a heave load. If it were not for the control issues, I would love to see one behind an IDI or 7.3 PSD. There is no compairson between the E40D/4r100 and the 5r110(Torqshift) They have a tow/haul mode instead of O/D lockout. The use all 5 forward gears towing, and it disables the coast clutch and keeps the torque converter locked to allow engine braking, and in THM the shifts are firm and quick.... not harsh but you know when it shifts.....
