I get 16-18 in mine unloaded. Towing I am around 14. My 7.3 got better mileage but I had to modify a lot of stuff to get it to run as strong as my stock 6.0. Reliability issues with the 6.0 were usually due to modifications. Anything from an 04 on up should be a good rig, especially if it has a few miles on the clock.

I have an 03 & 1/2 Sick Litter F-250 Crew/long bed. I have it chipped, cold air intake with 35" tires. I get 16 to 18 unloaded and 10 to 14 loaded (depends if I'm in the snow using 4 wheel drive). I LUV IT!!!

I have an 03 6.0 in an Excursion. I get 12-15 in town and 18-20 on the interstate. The interstate I keep it at 2200 rpm or below which is 73-74 mph.

Can't help you with a dually :)
but realistically, it depends !

two different peope driving the same vehicle can get drastically different mpg :)

my wife is a hot rodder ! wears rear tires out !
driving style REALLY affects mpg - tortoise and the hare, ya know :)

Winter mpg is lower than Summer (fuel blends)

how long I use my remote start to idle and warm up or cool down A/C in summer

good care of truck versus none...

Higher speed and heavier is lower than lower speed and weight

my 05 Ex @ 99k miles is @ avg 15 mpg and up to 20 mpg hwy

but have seen the lie-o-meter mpg gauge as high as 22.5 on long runs behind 18 wheelers busting the wind for me :) :) :)

Gertrude get's about 17 average. 19-21 empty on the highway and 12-14 towing no matter how much. I do have an Edge w/Attitude, and I leave it on tow mode all the time. It's not a dually and I'm thinking 3.55 rear gears and 285/75 18 rubbers

So did Ford/International fix the headgasket prob in the later yr trucks? Or is it still a prob no matter what yr the truck is?

The later years are better, but it can still happen. I have an 03 that is stock at 95k and has the factory gaskets in it. I think what happenes is one of 2 things, a programmer is installed on the truck, and the power is turned up above design limits and the heads get lifted, just like overboosting and IDI, or if the EGR cooler plugs and/or the oil cooler plugs, it can cause an overheat, that can take out the gaskets. Not saying that keeping it stock will prevent head gasket issues, nor that a programmer is going to kill it, but overpowering the engine could cause damage. One thing that I am going to do is install a coolant filter in mine, because the EGR cooler can plug with the crap that floats around in the coolant. The EGT cooler is first inline before the Oil Cooler.... so $130 now on a filter could help prevent a $500 EGR Cooler + labor replacement, or a $1500 + head gasket replacement..... sounds pretty "cheap" to me when I look at it that way......

Very true. Thats a good point. Yea you'd think they would learn from their mistakes and fix it. Would be nice if the newer 6.0s had factory studs installed to fix the head gasket prob.

I have an 05 F-350 4X4 SRW. At 1800rpms empty I get 16-17 mpg. I deliver RV's for a living so depending on trailer weight / type I get 10-13 pulling. Stock truck except for an MBRP exhaust. Change oil every 5k. Currently has 310,000.
