5.4L in a SUPER DUTY

Is it adequate or not? 260 HP would have been a ton of power 20 years ago in 4x4 3/4ton.I bought one for around the house and i have been driving it and don't think it's too bad.

This 02 F-250 weighs in at a swelt 5837lbs according to the book i have. It also has 4.10 LS gears.Auto. DANA 60 Front axel. Bought it off a Potato Farmer in PEI. $14,900. 52,000 km.Clean as a whistle.

I sell for a living and i almost sold the truck when i was at the dump today.I was talking to a gent,i caught my self selling the truck and finaly i snapped out of it and relized i bought the truck so it could be used for running around and could get dirty without worring about it. Again it runs great. I think it's as good as it needs to be.

I had a couple of 5.4's in e-250's. They did alright

I don't know why so many are down on gas engines in pickups. That's a good lookin' truck and 260hp should be plenty of power unless you're towing a biggin' or drag racing. I wouldn't mind an F-250 with a silky smooth silent power V-10 for towing my 10,400 lb 5th wheel.

My '05 has the new 300hp 5.4 and I find it more then adequate. I'm very happy with it.

You know, after owning the truck for almost a year know,it's been a pleasure upon till last week. I had to make a delivery and had a 02 GMC Rcab Sbed SLE Z71 on the trailer in the picture behind it and the torque converter was ratteling every time it went into OD lock up. Is this common on these gas jobs?I did not think the 5.4 l had enough tourque to tear up a tranny. 70k km on her. Guess I'll bring her down to the shop.Only money spent on her was new tires ,gas & oil .She sure rides like a truck though with them X springs out front with no plow.

I think the 5.4L is up to 300HP, now. The V-10 is 362HP and climbing!!!

Yup, thats what mine is. Works great with the 6 speed.

I think it rides good for a 3/4ton. The turning radius is great compared to the pre '05s
