I bought some used BFG mud terrain 33" 12.50 16.5 tires and rims a while back for 40.00. They lasted a good while for the price and let me check the fit and

driveablity, But they've got some pretty good sidewall cracks developing. Have been looking around for replacements for a 16.5 rim and haven't found much but

those Humvee Goodyear wrangler Mt and mtr 37" and BF GOODRICH BAJA T/A 37" LT military tires. Wondering If switching to these would be alright as I have

enough space, they are pretty cheap and I've heard they wear pretty well. I don't really tow or ever plan to. I do a fair amount of highway driving. I'm running a

N/A 7.3 IDI with a ZF5 and a 3.54 Dana 60. Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated thanks.

I've had 37" MT/R's on my 60 swapped F250 with 3.55's for almost 2 years. The tires are wearing fairly well, considering I haven't balanced them at all, and I've been fighting alignment issues. They aren't too loud IMO, grip really well, and have not let me down yet.

My only complaint is that I get a fair amount of wheel hop from the rear end when I load it up. I need to build some traction bars for it.

Is that a clear coated bare metal van??

Yeah ;Sweet;Sweet It's just rubbed down with Fluid film pretty thick and regularly. No problems even in the pouring rain, just rub it down after it rains to get the

dirt/water spots off. Some people use Gibbs(way too expensive) or Wd40 both of which stand up terribly when compared to fluid film in bare metal salt water

tests. Clear coating bare metal is usually a bad idea, It doesn't stick that well and after a while gets rust trapped under it.

Not sure what your concern is. I used to run 39.5"x15" on my 460 truck with 3.55:1 and zf5 and they were fine. Was getting a bit much for towing and I eventually went to 35"x12.5" for that reason.

I guess I was just wondering if it would be a really really disappointing dog with tires that big taking off from lights and wanted to hear from people with the same set up.

That van is F-ing cool ;Sweet
Is it stock height?

Thanks! It was a Gas and electric company van sold to a private construction company that added extra leaf springs in back not sure what they did in front but its definitely

higher than stock. I put some Rancho adjustables up front. swapped the 6.9 out and put in the 7.3 and when the C6 crapped out I put in the zf5. stripped it a few weeks ago.

Nice thanks for the insight

I forgot to mention that my ZF5 is from a 460 truck, so the gearing is a little lower than the diesel ZF. It probably helps a little, but I'd say not very much. The spread of the gears is probably a bigger difference.
