2001 7.3l PSD - VR location?

Hi Guys,


I replaced my wife's alternator last year with a new/premium unit from O'reilly. About a week ago the warning light started flickering once the unit warmed up, but the batteries stay charged. The flickering is getting much worse, and the voltage swings all over the place with RPM changes.


So... VR is probably toast. Just wanted a quick confirm that it's integral to the alternator before I yank it and take it to be tested. It's too cold outside for this shade tree.

yep vr is on the back side of the alt.

I went ahead and replaced it this morning. It seems to have gone OK save for the stupid PATS system. The only way I can get it to start is to hold the under-dash button while I crank. If I just try and start it, it triggers the immobilizer.


I'm trying to figure out how to reset this. I can drive the rig, and did a road test, but... Gotta keep her happy.
