I have both trucks complete side by side. 2001 is a F450 2wd. 84 is a 4wd. Would like to swap 2001 engine, transmission as well as all components ( AC compressor, alternator etc) as a complete unit into
the 84. I know I might have to create a drive shaft to the transfer case.
1984 engine is shot. 2001 engine runs great.
1. Does the turbo charged engine fit into the older engine bay ?
2. Will the ECMs work, if I transplant harness ?
3. If not, are there Stand alone units for the 2001 drive train ?
4. Are there Diesel ECM programmers out there to make my ECMs work stand alone in the old truck ?
5. Is it smarter / possible to put the old cab and bed onto the 2001 frame ?
