03 no start

ok i have a 03 cr that will not start. I can change the filter or just drain the fuel from the canister and it will start 4 or 5 times. After that the start time gets longer and longer till it is back to a no start condition. I have pulled all the high pressure connectors inspected and reinstalled, torqued to spec. Also tried a spare lift pump with no change. Any ideas?

but i wouldnt try and drive it until it gets fixed cause no fuel to the high pressure pump will burn up the pump

The fuel pump is running. It will even pass the flow test.

does it have any codes stored?

how does it idle?

does it have white smoke during idle?

i wonder if this is what happens when the rail pressure return valve goes bad? or whatever the cummins name is for the valve that regulates the rail pressure

i honestly dont have experience with this happening but it seems like nobody else is responding so ill try to help you through it. hopefully our troubleshooting will come across something that somebody has heard of before.
