Long Awaited First Start! (link to video)
FINALLY! After almost two years working on it, my '89 7.3 turbo engine is running. Still a ways to go before it's ready to drive, but at least I've reached a major milestone. Thanks to everyone here for the support/advice/suggestions. It's finally bearing fruit...- IHDiesel445

7.3 Low Compression Pistons
Does anyone know of a manufacturer who can supply otherwise stock pistons with a reduced compression height? I want to have them about 0.060 shorter to give about a 16:1 ratio. Lack of Blowby on 7.3
I took the oil cap off with the engine running today to check for blowby. There was NOTHING coming out. The engine had only been running for 15 minutes or so. Is that enough time? Or does the engine need to be hot? Could there be something wrong if there is no blowby? I wouldn't think so...- IHDiesel445

Turbo or No?
Hello All, Is it a good idea to install a turbo on a 7.3 IDI with 300k on it? It has been well cared for. I'm the 2nd owner, and the truck had 230k on it when I bought it. It doesn't burn through any oil, starts right up even in 15 degree weather, doesn't smoke, and has about 50 psi oil...- IHDiesel445
